Klinger Lake Country Club’s Rich Heritage
In the spring of 1920 The St. Joseph County Country Club was formed with 50 charter members. The 9 hole course opened for play in the spring of1921 and
was “officially”opened on August 21, 1921 by Charles “Chick” Evans who was the U.S. Amateur Champion. The club house was opened on June 29th of that same year. On April 10, 1922 the name of the Club was changed to Klinger Lake County Club. The Clubhouse and course overlooks picturesque Klinger Lake. The back nine was opened in 1931 with “Chick” Evans again doing the honors. The orginal Clubhouse burned on July 31, 1937 and was completely destroyed.
